Designjet 500
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi all,

at the moment I´m rebuilding an old Designjet 500, I looked in every documentation I could find but still I don´t get what the arrow underneath the printhead symbol stands for. I had to change 2 of the printheads and every time the screen showed just 2 of the black arrows instead all 4, but the poistion was changing, so sometimes I had an arrow on black, sometimes not. Does this arrow mean anything?

thanks,

Sven

If I remember good those arrows can be white or black, the difference between black or white arrow is if the printhead has expired or not.

Each printhead has an expiration date, if you have passed expiration date the arrow will be different than the arrow on the non-expired printhead.

from the service manual, you either have bad printheads or possibly the carriage or carriage trailing cable is bad but that will normally generate an  02 or 11 error

Hi, the normal signs like the corss, ? and ! are clear and understood. Just the arrow sign underneath is what I couldn´t find in any manual. But if this is showing that the expire date has reached, it would make scense.

thanks,

Sven
