Hi all. I have been trying to track down the clacking noise my 500 makes when printing. It looks like it only happens when the carriage goes right to left and it sounds like the carriage is catching on the paper hold down rollers. When I manually pull the carriage across , all is quite, its only does it when printing. Print quality is good but there are sign of the noise being transmitted to the print. Ive changed the carriage bushes and the first print after this was good but the noise returned soon after.
Heres a link to a short video of it in action https://youtu.be/5WGw16hukhk
Welcome any suggestions
Many thanks

Lift top cover and push cover switch ( on the right side is a hole near the printer screen) with folded piece of paper.
Send a print job and examine the white strip cable above the carriage the that is very likely causing that noise. Cable is loose and hitting the top of the printer.

Many thanks Valsimot, but doesn't look like the ribbon cable. You can feel the vibration of the carriage hitting something's on its travels, Carriage seams to have a lot of movement on the bushes, even though I changed them recently and probably only have half a dozen prints on them.

The bushing at the top of the carriage can easily be damaged when installing the carriage. It sets carriage height.
