HP DesignJet T230 24-in Printer

Designjet T230 uses firmware 2306Bfrom 2023. Does not "see" the newer firmware of Jan 2024. I tried with HP Smart and from printers control screen but says I use the newest version of firmware.

How do I upgrade to fw 2325A Jan 2024 manually?

Also, there is a Print Preview problem when I use A2 roll. The print preview is always 50% on the screen.

When I use A1 roll, there is no problem (still).

The firmware download page shows the following

Please make sure that the zip file has been correctly downloaded by checking the MD5 Checksum.

It should be "7dadc5abbac4ff23ff8f330aa5afe358".

  1. Open the zip file and extract the .ful2 firmware file.
  2. Open HP DesignJet Utility. Add the printer (if applicable).
  3. Go to tab Admin and click on Select file.... Browse to the .ful2 firmware file.
  4. Click on Upload file. The printer will start installing the firmware and will reboot automatically during the process.

That update provided these "fixes" which seem to have nothing to do with your A1/A2 roll problem.
  • Firmware vulnerabilities fixed.
  • Stability issues.

If the vulnerability and stability are critically important then you should update the firmware. Be aware that a firmware update failure can render the printer unusable.   This can be a major problem if the printer is no longer in warranty.

Please create another post about the A1 A2 roll problem so anyone seeing it will know exactly the problem.

Thank you for the quick reply to my question.

Apparently, I have also a very common issue. THe HP Designjet Utility does not work. It just pops up and then disappears,

so I cannot follow your instructions.

You can try extracting the .ful file from the download and then using command line copy the file to the printer. Have never tried that with this model but have with other products. You will need to to have the printer setup on network and then use the dosshell netuse command to setup the printer as connected to LPT1.

Then the command you run would be copy /b filename lpt1

The \b tells the printer it is getting a binary file not a printable file.

You should have seen a message asking for permission to run the app.

Try running it as "administrator" by right clicking on the app.

If that does not work then look in the event viewer for any errors related to the printer

Look in all of the windows logs
