Hi all

First time switching on my designjet t520 for a while and the initial problem was that it was out of yellow ink, but the other cartridges were recognised and had ink remaining.

I bought what I believe is a genuine yellow ink cartridge from Amazon and installed it. First of all the printer said the cartridges were damaged or faulty (can't remember the exact error message, it was something like that).

I did a factory reset to see if that would help, but now I can't get past the screen where it says "Open ink cover to start cartridges installation".

I have tried installing the cartridges several times but it just goes back to the same screen. There's no error message as such, it just doesn't seem to recognise that I have installed the cartridges and won't let me do anything else until I have.

I've tried switching off and back on, tried switching off with cartridges taken out and then installing. I'm stuck. It's not in warranty, but seems a shame to scrap this over what might be a simple fix. Any ideas?

Thanks

I guess I would try another ink cartridge.  Sometimes the chips are bad, especially if they're not genuine HP ink carts.

I don't work for HP....I just repair their printers.
