Try the emergency firmware upgrade.
Emergency firmware upgrade with USB flash drive
When it is not possible to perform a firmware upgrade using the normal procedures (for instance, in case of a System Error and the Embedded Web Server is unavailable), it is possible to perform an emergency firmware upgrade using a USB flash drive. Follow the next steps:
1.Copy a valid FMW firmware file onto a USB flash drive. This file is provided in Designjet Online. Remove all other contents in the flash drive.
2.Turn off the product.
3.Connect the USB flash drive to the USB host port on the formatter.
4.Turn on the product and follow the instruction on the Touch Control Panel.

It should not matter since you are downloading and copying the fmw file to a USB thumb driver. Go to the link below and as you can see MAC is also listed. Remember you are not sending the firmware from the computer since the plotter will not boot. You copy the file to the root directory of the thumb drive and insert the drive into the port on the formatter and then turn on the plotter. It will see the new firmware and give you instructions to follow right at the printer. Once done the plotter should restart or it will tell you to turn off and then back on. If the firmware does not load at the printer the most likely issue is a bad hard disk.
