designjet 5500 Q1253A 60 inch
Microsoft Windows 7 (32-bit)

here is what I have machine data.jpg

Here is the installed HD

installed HD.jpg

My belt broke so I did a boot up to see of hd would spin as this is condition of the Designjet 5500 as I acquired it in

read out on boot up.jpg

According to my searching the Firmware S.56.07 is for a 42 inch Designjet 5500 ?

But the inserted HD has a firmware of S.06.02 RTL

If the firmware S.06.02 RTL is correct and on the HD why should the boot up show a firmware of S.56.07 which is for

a 42 inch designjet 5500 . the 60 inch Designjet is set up for dye ink at present

Thanks for any help

Bobby

The tag on the disk would be the firmware that was installed originally on the drive when the device was shipped. Updates would obviously change the installed firmware but the sticker would never get changed.

I wonder why the firmware for a 42 inch Designjet  5500

would be installed on a 60 inch Designjet  5500 ?

Size of printer doesn't matter when it comes to the firmware.  It will work on either size.

However, the RTL firmware is for Non-Postscript (PS) printers only. PS printers take a different firmware.

I don't work for HP....I just repair their printers.

Thanks for the replies but it make you wonder why some one would set up a Designjet 5500 that is a 60 inch

to run as a Designjet 5500  42 inch ?
