hi,
If you have to force print, is because the job is on hold due to a missmatch, or the printer is waiting for the user to open the Stacker arms.
The printer will ask to open the stacker arms when
- Selected on the driver
- The type of paper selected require this action, mostly gloss paper
The paper missmatch could be
- The paper type selected on the driver does not match the paper selected on the printer panel
- The paper size selected on the driver does not match the paper selected on the printer panel
- The job is bigger than the paper loaded
Check the paper size on the printer EWS
Check the size of the actual document, including margings
Check the paper type selected on the printer and the application
To update the firmware
Download the file from the HP site
Save it on a USB format to FAT32 (Make sure there are no other files on the USB)
Connect the USB to the printer and it will update

Hello Mike,
I have followed everything that you have listed. There was no paper mismatch issue, what was loaded in the machine was listed on the driver, this particular customer does not use glossy paper, they only use plain bond paper. The job was not bigger than the paper loaded it was a 24x36 one sheet. The roll had 50' left on the spool. So with all of this said, I asked the user to show me his exact steps when printing and found that in his application (which isn't set up like his driver is, no surprise) the paper setting was set to automatic unknown type. Shocker?? So once I was able to resolve the application software setups the machine worked fine afterwards.
I don't mind using the forum but waiting on answers gets frustrating and this is when you have no choice to use other means to fix the issues on your own. Tech support is no help either, they just ask you the same stuff that you have already performed prior to calling them for assistance.
Thanks for your response
Richard

Hi Richard,
The steps I listed are the first thing to check.
And you are right, see what they user is doing step by step is the best way to find the error 😉
If you could not get the problem solved with support, PM me the case number and I'll look for the areas of improvement there
