HP DesignJet T1700 44-in Printer

Hi, after replacing the spittoon the printer has problems loading the paper, I can't see why it's having problems but it report problems with the Paper motor.

Is this the CH538-67076 Scan-axis motor Poly-V as shown here? https://printcopy.info/?mod=pc&brand=HP&model=DesignJet+T1700&page=11

I get the error code 0065-0002-0008.

During the paper drive test I also get that the following has values out of range, PosErr, MaxPWM and MinPWM.

Best regards,

Henning

Scan axis motor drives the print head carriage not the paper. Did you perform the required calibrations listed in the service manual after changing components. If not I suggest you find the service manual online and ensure you followed all required steps. The manual will also decode that error you are seeing.

From what I can see there is no calibration mentioned when changing the spittoon.

But many of the error we got stated that maybe the paper motor was faulty.

But found the problem came from the analog encoder, wasn't easy to spot at first, but the plate wasn't clean because of the old spittoon box.

Were able to clean it enough to get the printer up and running again, but will replace it soon.

Encoders rarely need to be replaced. Simple clean them with a soft lint free cloth moistened with a water that has a couple of drops of alcohol mixed in. The alcohol helps remove oils. Must be very diluted as strong alcohol will damage the grid printed on the mylar encoder wheel.
