HP DesignJet Z9+ 44-in PostScript Printer
macOS 12.0 Monterey

Hey there,

I am a Designer using the HP Designjet z9+ 44in PostScript Printer and I am having some issues with the printer scaling down my artwork.

Say for example I make a 100mm square in Adobe Illustrator and 100% scale (the default) from the print menu, the square is coming out around 98mm from the printer. This issue gets bigger for larger prints, therefore say a 1-meter wide print is coming out around 15mm smaller than specified.

I have run some tests and the same issue happens through any program I use, the main two being Adobe Illustrator & Adobe Acrobat. I am able to counteract this issue by altering the scale up to about 102% however this isn't a precise resolution as it is still of by say 0.2mm or so.

Can anyone advise as to where the issue might be coming from? My boss has also tried it from his machine and he is getting the same results as me.

Thanks,

Ben

When printing 100x100mm, what is your overall illustration size or PDF size and what paper size are you specifying in the driver?  I'm wondering if it is scaling due to minimum margin size (if borderless isn't selected/ if that's available).
