Hi,
We have a Designjet 4500 Scanner. The attached terminal is running Windows XP. We have been warned by our network administrators that anything attached to the network running anything not Windows 10 or beyond will be disconnected from the network. How do we upgrade the OS on the terminal? Or is the solution, to attach a pc to the scanner instead of the terminal? If the solution is attaching a PC to the scanner, where/how do we get the software?

You need to contact HP and request the OS upgrade pack for the device. These are custom images so you cannot simply attach a different PC to it.
I am a volunteer, offering my knowledge to support fellow users, I do not work for HP nor speak for HP.

Hi,
Could you please provide a part number. I forwarded your response to my consultant and he said that HP does not have an OS Upgrade. Sounds weird to me, he probably was looking at a sales item and not a repair part. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance

I might be wrong, the HP XP scanning version was for DJ4200 scanner & myself used before. It was not even work on Windows 7, not mention windows 10, due to driver never compatible with othet higher version.
DJ4500, T1100 etc have the build in Windows runtime & scanning softwares ( not copy protected & can be clone easily )
Leave your scanner alone & do not waste time to upgrade. As soon as it scans fine, that counts...

The issue I have is that our IT Department is kicking off everything that doesn't have Windows 10 since XP and Win 7 are no longer supported by Microsoft. It's a pretty pricy piece of equipment to just throw away due to an OS issue.
