HP LaserJet Managed MFP E731dn

Hello,

the company I work for have a lot of customers with HP LaserJet Managed MFP E731dn model printer and that model is experiencing some issues with the fuser. By description from the customer the printers are making very loud mechanical noises when falling asleep or waking up. As me and my colleagues investigated it turns out it's the pressure roller from the fuser. The sound is being made because the printer is unable to properly release the pressure roller and thus creating a loud mechanical clicking sound. Another colleague of mine disassembled the fuser and saw that there are two plastic stoppers that don't rotate properly and skip a turn when releasing the pressure when printer is falling asleep. We tried some minor fixes but the problem persists.

The customer is printing only A4 sized Plain paper sheets. We've had a conversation with their IT department if they have not set up the printer settings but they assured me everything is properly set.

The problem started with 1 machine last year and we replaced the fuser, but now more and more are having the same issue. Currently up to 15 machines produce this loud clicking mechanical noise and probably more machines are going to have that issue in the future.

As far as I know there is no known fix in the service manual or the CPMD document and also there is no errors coming from the printers themselves. This is a strictly mechanical issue but we don't know how to address it. Has anyone had an issue like that before? Or maybe a solution for this problem.

PS. It's my first time writhing here, so if this post is in the wrong category please excuse me.

Best regards

Gabriel
