Hello TEJ1602 - Yes, I did see @Repairatrooper's reply.  I had also perused the Manual before even starting this conversation on HP Support.  That is exactly what my printer looks like (as you can see by the picture I had included for Betty).

But once again, I just cannot believe that HP would design and market something that looks so absolutely wrong.  Every time people walk by the printer, they try to push that tray in.  It just is a blatant error.  I was looking to converse with an HP Support person to confirm that indeed HP did design the printer to have the Tray hanging open at all times because it cannot shut with the paper inside.  How did they decide this design was good for marketing? Are they coming up with a fix?  Has no one else complained about this?

The issue is trying to keep the overall footprint smaller. There is no fix, it is a limitation based on the size of the machine.

Yes, this is by design and was always like this by design for any consumer A3 products (e.g 7500, 7610, etc. with the drawer extended for Bigger paper sizes) to keep the device body smaller, else the entire printer would have much bigger dimensions by default and would require a much bigger place for placing the printer.
