Do you have plain paper on a roll you can try or have you tried the sheet feed? I have found that some of the newer models can be finicky on loading and the roll will slip back and the feed cannot grab it so you have to babysit it when loading, holding it lightly in place to prevent the roll from rolling back before the paper has entered the feed mech.
