Designjet Z6200
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi all,

We have a designjet Z6200 that was loading paper but after lining up, cutting off the 1" or so and parking like it was ready for a print job would then ask to load paper....now it is not even loading the roll (doesn't detect the paper when you try and feed it in).

I suspect the media sensor and was looking at it yesterday and it looks to me like a like a simple switch. My question is how does it work? My thinking is if I take it out and put an ohm meter on it, it should show open or closed depending on the position the lever is in. Am i on the right track with how it works, and in suspecting it or am i on the wrong road to fixing it?

Thanks in advance

Mark

Most sensors on there are optical so they need power to operate properly. There are service test menus that allow you to diagnose issues.

Thanks for the reply. I did take the sensor out and see how it works now. That said that model does not (that i can find) have the sensors tests in the service menu. Looking at both the service manual for the 6100 and the 6200 it appears to only be available on the 6100...not sure why they did not include it on the 6200 as it seems to be a useful function (unless they have named it something else now i should add).
