I have been trying to print black characters onto matte polycarbonate film that has been silk screened with matte white ink. This media takes several types of inks well, including liquid ink that is used in plotter pens and ink from a marker pen. These other inks dry quickly and cannot be wiped off or smudged, even when wiped vigorously. However, when I use the T2300, even though the image print quality is phenomenal, the image can be smudged and wiped off easily. I have used the plain paper, glossy photo paper and transparency paper types. When I print using the plain or glossy paper types, the ink appeared to be wet and very glossy. I let it dry for a few minutes, then a few days, then a week and tried a hair dryer for varying times. The image wiped off easily in all cases. I think the plotter was using the MK ink for those, even though several publications state that the plotter will use PK ink if glossy photo paper is declared as the paper type. I then tried the transparent film paper type and the image was matte and did not appear to be at all wet. However, after allowing about 10 minutes, the image still smudged and wiped off easily. Even using a hair dryer for 5 minutes then allowing a 10 minute cool down the ink still smudged. I then tried standard transparency film with the same result. I have verified that the installed ink is PK. Is there another special ink for the T2300 that I could try?
