HP DesignJet 5500ps 60inch
Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard

Hi Folks - I just acquired an oldy but a goody - HP 5500PS 60 inch Designjet printer. It is functional - it boots up and self-diagnoses, checks printheads, and everything looks good. I did a test from within the printer itself, and it generated a really nice poster of a model train. Only problem is it won't accept postscript information from any computer I've tried to print from. My Mac Pro 1,1 running OSX 10.6.8 (yes, I have a soft spot for antique equipment) already has the driver, and I've tried printing from Adobe Indesign 5, Photoshop 5, and Acrobat 10.1.14. All result in 1 or 2 percent of the information being transferred, and then the printer displaying the following message: "Postscript needs to restart the printer."

The printer is successfully communicating on my LAN. I can access it via DNS. I was going to go fishing and order a new postscript card (620N), but wanted to see if anyone knew of a fix first. Thanks!

SOLVED: One of the RAM modules installed in the printer was not seated properly. Printer now works as it should!
