Designjet T120

Getting error msg "Printer Failure - problem with printer or ink system"

Have just replaced encoder strip - didn't fix problem.

Machine is only 5 years old. Having trouble sourcing a technician to even look at it.

Happy to take it to a major centre for servicing.

Any suggestions?

Were you getting an error that suggested the encoder strip was bad before you changed it or was it always the same error? I ask because in most cases the error you post is caused by an ink supply problem or failed printhead. The encoder only tracks where the print head carriage is located on the path of travel.

Thanks for the reply.

The tech guy who looked at was the one who suggested replacing the encoder strip but there was no error msg about it.

I have now located another technician who is familiar with the T120.

He is going to check it out for me.
