Got the printer into the house yesterday. I kept seeing the check printerhead path, and left it alone until today.  I figured I should try moving the printhead housing to see if it moved smoothly all the way across, even though there was a bit of dirt (dust? rubber?), I figured I could at least make sure nothing major was stopping it's motion across the entire print area, and it was fine, as I moved it all the way to the right, I didn't sense any problem, and it stopped short of the right side - and that's probably because of what is shown in the photo.  I'll obviously have to replace this cable.  I haven't taken anything else apart yet to figure out what else needs to be done, but this has some serious kinks in it, and the material is quite deteriorated.  I guess I'll have to figure out how to take the two plastic side covers off and see if there's anything else that needs obvious replacement, and take it from there...
