DesignJet T730
macOS 12.0 Monterey

I haven't used our DesignJet T730 in a while, and I went to load up some paper and plot and there are two (possibly related issues):

1. Loading a roll will not go past the "load and feed paper"

and (related?)

2. 8.5x11 paper will be sensed and start loading, but it skews as it loads (does not jam, is removable via the tray, but does not print).

  • I've turned it off and on again
  • Firmware is CANDELPR2N001.2233C.00
  • I've looked to see and there is no paper (visibly) blocking anything in there.
  • The line sensor brush is not black (is beige).
  • I've tried cleaning/vacuuming out any visible dust (but can't see inside the assemblies without taking them apart).
  • I've tried reseating the paper feed tray assembly
  • I've removed and checked the OOPS and it moves okay and the cable is connected well.

When feeding in the roll, it appears to get blocked around where the OOPS is located. The manual feed stops and I'm not even able to get the system to pick up that the paper is present.

And resolved #1 - a small nail had also fallen in and was blocking the paper feed area above the OOPS.

Resolved #2 - a screw had fallen into the assembly. Removed it and now we're loading paper on the tray, but getting the can't detect paper error after it pulls a sheet halfway in.
