Hello,

I am trying to print on a new paper: Arlon 4500GLX. It's a self-adhesive vinyl. The ink is pooling and streaking when I'm trying to test print and it looks terrible.

The website says it should be able to use self-adhesive vinyl and I made sure to list the paper as Self-adhesive vinyl when loading it. I've also tried extending ink drying time, but it still pools and streaks and doesn't dry.

I'm uncertain if this is a paper incompatibility or an issue with the printer as I have only just got it to start printing at all.

Thank you.

According to the manufacturer website, that paper probably isn't compatible with inkjet printers.

Ink Compatibility

  • Eco-Solvent
  • Solvent
  • UV
  • Latex

Doubtful there's anything wrong with the printer.  There are self adhesive papers out there that are inkjet compatible and that are made for HP inkjet printers.  You might want to do a search on the HP website or even on Ebay.  I just bought some inkjet-compatible self adhesive vinyl off ebay but just in the 8 1/2 x 11 sheet size.

You just have to make sure it specifies safe to use on inkjet printers.  Another thing to consider is that the inkjet ink isn't good for outside use because it's water soluble dye ink.  You might have to move to latex or some of the other printers mentioned above.

I don't work for HP....I just repair their printers.

Thank you! That makes a lot of sense. Unfortunately, I didn't get to pick the paper so I'll pass this on to the people in charge of ordering! Thank you for the link!
