T830 after main pca replacement, I get: "Update Required. A mandatory update must be installed before you can continue setting up the printer...."
I have read in copytechnet.com that the new main pca I received is DOA and must be replaced by a proper replacement, perhaps of a certain date and perhaps more desirably from HP. I assume that is the solution. I got this one from extraparts.com. It is dated 05/05/22.
I tried to update the firmware but to no avail.
Is there anything else that can be done to get this present new main pca to work without having to return it and get another new replacment main pca?
Thanks.

Again, my original problem was that the 1st new main pca would only boot to the message: Update Required. I tried to update the FW with the latest but to no avail. I had to get a 2nd new replacement main pca (I think ideally this should be directly from HP). The 2nd new replacement main pca resolved my problem. (Note: The 2 scanner cables that travel through the ferrite in the ferrite holder/retainer should be inserted in the top 2 slots, not the bottom 2 slots. I got it wrong and got 2 - 0009 scanner errors, and the multi-sheet tray would not feed a sheet for some reason.)
I think it is possible that if I had obtained the "mandatory FW upgrade" files (on 1 thumb drive) originally shipped with these T730 & T830 units that I may have had success using the 1st new main pca. These 2 files are (I presently have them in google drive but am not sure they would be of any help nowadays.):
CANDELPR2N001.1534M.99_from_1534M.00_for_1544B.00.ful2, checksum: caac5e74219621aee0b233ba226a2b1f and
CANDELPR2N001.1544B.00_from_CANDELPR2N001.1534M.99.ful2, checksum: d0df6c7a44cd00cef62d2f17027326dc
But I have heard of an account in which the tech (in copytechnet.com) tried these 2 files with no success to get beyond the "update required" message/window (and tried the latest FW upgrade as well to no avail, like I did). That tech also had to obtain a new replacement main pca, again ideally directly from HP.

Did you receive a new or used part? If used, you cannot install in another printer as device specific data is encoded on the part. In that case I suggest you order a new replacement from HP directly to avoid this issue.

Hi, the main pca is "new" as best as I know, advertised as "genuine new". Was in sealed anti-static bag. Appears that I was the 1st to open the sealed HP box.
Why would a "new" main pca present this statement? "update required...." Again, is there anything I can do to get beyond this? Again, I updated the firmware via USB drive formatted in FAT32. But to no avail.
Thanks.

If the firmware update did not fix it then likely hard coded identifiers such as serial number need to be entered into the NVRAM of the printer. I do not have those instructions in front of me at the moment. Will try to post back later today. I the meantime if you check online you can usually find someone who has the service manual posted online and that is where you will find the instructions.

I have the SM but upon a cursory check of the SM, I do not find what you speak of to enter the SN into the NVRAM. I will dig more later.
If you could lay out those steps or note where those steps are in the SM, I would appreciate it. Again, I will dig more into the manual--I just quickly searched under "serial number" and nothing stood out to me.
Again, all I am able to get to is the FP stating "Update Required". Perhaps I can do something by simultaneously plugging in the printer and pressing the "soft power" button for about 15 seconds, then enter: "home, return, home, home" and see what I can do from there, not sure what to do from there, if anything.
....I have already returned the "new" main pca...I was operating under the advice that I needed to return it to my supplier and get a new main pca directly from HP, but now I do not know for sure what to do.
