Pertinent:  I got a new router recently called a "mesh" type.  It seems to have some switching mechanism which chooses the fastest signal at a given time to use for the network.

This is pertinent b/c my error message says there is more than one network "with that name" so even though I know the problem, I don't know how to fix it.

Please help if you can.

A warm welcome to HP Forums! This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips to your technical queries.

I understand you need support and I'll be glad to help you out. However, for an accurate solution, I would need more details:

What's the printer model?

What's the product number or model number of your WiFi router?

How many wireless networks are configured on your WiFi router?

Do you have a 2.4GHz network and a 5GHz network?

Let me know!
