Q6677C
Microsoft Windows 11

My first post. I searched here and did not see any info associated with my issue. Also checked Internet and came up short. I recently purchased a used DesignJet Z2100 48" printer that was in need of repair. I want to use this for making some larger schematics. I'm disabled and work on old stereo equipment as a hobby and therapy.  I replaced the carriage belt and I'm making progress through the list of issues. I'm stuck now - it appears that the recommended fix for some of the errors I am getting is to upgrade the firmware.

My model #: Q6677C   Current firmware: TR12-PS_7.0.0.3     OS TR_2.1.2

Apparently, it is suggested to update firmware 7.0.0.3_5 and then to something in the 8.... range.

All the HP support pages that are referenced for this printer do not contain any firmware - just drivers ands other software. The embedded JetDirect web server on the printer support page link for the firmware goes to a dead HP link. I understand this printer is no longer supported - but isn't there somewhere that I can find some firmware updates?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

What error message you have you want to fix with a firmware.

On the hp support page you need to select WIN10 OS to access firmware, if you select W11 there will be no firmware link

Hi Valsimot. Sorry for the long delay in replying. I get different errors - most frequently is 39:01. Also, very consistently - I have some weird power on issues.

Any time I power up the printer from the rear; main power switch -0 the printer starts up properly and does an initialization. However, if I then shut down the printer using the front panel switch - it shuts down OK - but always when starting it up again using the front panel button - the display stays at 0 % and just sounds a continuous beeping. It will do that until I shut off the printer using the main power switch at the rear. Then it will start OK again. This pattern of never being able to start successfully from the front panel button is consistent.

I found the firmware. Trying to load it now.

Thank you

Hi again. Well, I am making major progress. Was able to update the firmware and connect to the network. Only issue now is that when it prints, it goes through all the motions - except there is no ink actually printed on the paper.

The printheads dried out, probably because they were not used for a long period. Remove the printheads and soak them ( bottom pat) in hot water, hopefully, that will dissolve dried ink. Wipe printhead ( bottom part again) with paper towel it must leave a colour mark on paper towel.

Hi again. I tried that several times. It made a very short lived, minimal impact. I got some color printed and then it all just stopped again. The print heads look ok visually. I think because this sat for so long - there may be air in the system. I have tried to do the purge ink function from the front panel - but I get ab error 61:01 format error and I cant purge the ink system. Any thoughts? On-line it talks about drivers - but this is from the front panel that I am trying to do the purge.

Thanks again!

61 error is a file format error
