I am working on a designjet 5500ps i replaced the carriage belt when they print after printing it makes a 1sec grinding noise after printing.  It is printing no errors and I dont know if it was doing it before the belt was replaced.

Clean & lubricate the silver metal rod... also clean the encorder strip.

My Z3200 44" made faint screaming sound once in a while & I keep clean & lubricate it. It helps a lot.

I do the same for all my 4 machines always.
