I didn't see anything addressing this in the setup guide or manual. Thanks for reading my question.
I am using a Polycom IP7000 with a Multi-Interface Module. It is running Rev 4.3.0 0616 27-Jan-11 15:34
I've set the "Aux In" setting to "Other Input" so I can pipe sound in from a mixing board. I'm testing first with a cell phone since that's easier to set up and test with.
I am using a patch cable (supplied with the unit? not sure) that is the two RCA channels at one end, plugged into the input jacks, and the stereo jack end going into a cell phone.
This seems to work mostly okay -- when I run audio on the cell phone, I can hear it at the other end of the call just fine. The problem is, I also hear ambient room noise from the speakerphone, which I do not want. I only want the line in.
If I turn the volume on the speakerphone all the way down, it still picks up some room noise, and if you bump the unit you can hear the thump.
If I mute the speakerphone, it mutes the Auxiliary In as well, so this is not a solution.
is it possible for the unit to use *only* the Aux-in signal as input, and nothing from the speakerphone?
I would try the cell phone in jack on the IP7000 itself, but that jack is tiny.

Hello JoAnne Schmitz,
I can verify that even with latest software the system is designed to have 'global mute' function. That means that all mics/inputs are muted or unmuted together.
There is not a feature that enables only the Aux Input to be actively transmitting while muting the console and expansion microphones.

Okay, thanks.
My question is if this functionality is even supported if I were to upgrade.
Is there a way to use the aux-in only, and stop sound coming in on the speakerphone itself? Or do I always have to have sound coming in on the speakerphone?
You should be able to answer this question regardless of the state of the software on my phone, right? I don't want to waste my time upgrading the software on this phone if it's not going to solve my problem.

Hello JoAnne Schmitz,
I do actually not have one of these Multimod's in my possession so therefore I am unable to test.
I will try and ask Product Management
