Hi everybody,
at a client I've been asked to hide/remove altogether the Lock button/softkey on the phone (model VVX 600).
Here is the context:
Phone Model VVX 600 Part Number 3111-44600-001 Rev:A UC Software Version 5.5.2.8571
I've been searching through the documentation and online and I've done a couple of changes without success:
In file site.cfg I've added the following line:
<phoneLock phoneLock.enabled="0" />
In file features.cfg I've added the following line:
<feature.deviceLock feature.deviceLock.enable="0"></feature.deviceLock>
Finally, in file shared.cfg I removed the following line:
<softkey softkey.2.enable="1" softkey.2.label="Lock" softkey.2.use.idle="1" softkey.2.action="$FLockPhone$" softkey.2.precede="1" />
In our environment we have both VVX 310 and VVX 600 phones.
Strangely enough this configuration removed the Lock button from the VVX 310 phones but not from the VVX 600 ones!
This morning I also tried by adding the following line to the shared.cfg file:
<softkey softkey.feature.lock="0" softkey.feature.split="0" softkey.feature.newcall="0" softkey.feature.simplifiedSignIn="1" />
in an attempt to hide the Lock button but did not achieve the desired goal.
Did anyone face the same issue?
Thanks a lot in advance.
Best regards,
Alessandro
P.S. in attachment the complete files features.cfg, shared.cfg and site.cfg

Hello Alessandro,
If there is the correct DHCP option aka 160 for a non Skype / LYNC SKU is setup it has priority over whatever you place locally unless you set the Provisioning Server to static.

Hello Alessandro,
welcome to the Polycom Community.
In order to ensure the phone is actually loading a configuration instead of assuming the phone uses a configuration simply backup the config.
Export:
Utilities > Phone Backup & Restore > Phone Backup > Phone Backup

Hi Steffen,
thank you for the quick reply.
I did perform a backup.
But I'm sure the phones are retrieving the configuration as I checked the Provisioning Server entry on the phone via the web interface. Moreover I was able to turn off power saving Lock Screen on these phones by setting:
<feature.deviceLock feature.deviceLock.enable="0"></feature.deviceLock>
in the features.cfg file.
Let me know if I understood your answer.
Thank you,
Alessandro

Hello Alessandro,
You are assuming the phone is loading these template files but if they are not explicitly specified in your <mac>.cfg they will not.
Backup your configuration and check if this parameter (which is factory default anyway is in there).

Hi Steffen,
you are right! I double-checked the provisioning server and it was wrongly set (although in the DHCP options it's correct).
Now I manually modified that parameter on one phone, restarted it and I'm now waiting to check if the "evil" lock button disappeared.
I'll let you know as soon as I have the result of this test (as I'm not physically there).
By the way, let me ask you one clarification concerning this issue.
If the provisioning server is set manuallly through the web interface, does this option take precedence over the one specified in the DHCP options?
This seems to be my case.
Thanks,
Alessandro

Hi Steffen,
I confirm that by changing the Provisioning Server setting to the correct one, the configuration pulled is the right one and the Lock button disappears as requested.
Thank you so much for your help.
Best regards,
Alessandro
