HP Pavilion Plus 14 inch Laptop PC 14-ey0000 (7X856AV)

After resetting my laptop (both with and then without saving files), my volume no can only be changed by the volume mixer.
Using HP support assistant, i was able to fix the mute button not working (temp, it doesn't work again), but now i have no idea how to fix this problem. I tried installing AMD drivers from https://www.amd.com/en/support/downloads/drivers.html/processors/ryzen/ryzen-7000-series/amd-ryzen-7... but for some reason it wouldn't install anything.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to assist you.

 

I see that you are facing an issue with the speakers on your Laptop.

 

Please follow the steps below to perform an audio test to confirm if the hardware is working fine.

1) Shut down the computer.

2) Turn the computer back on again and repeatedly tap on the ESC until a Startup menu appears.  

3) Press F2 once.

4) click Component Tests > click Audio, and then click Run once.

 

Confirm if you are getting maximum sound by increasing the volume using the physical volume buttons on the keyboard.

 

If the hardware is working fine. Update the BIOS for your PC by clicking on the link.

 

Make sure you keep only the charger plugged in while updating the BIOS for your PC.

Click on the + sign next to BIOS and then download the file.

Open the file and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the update.

 

Please install all the pending updates for the Windows operating system following the below steps.

go to Start > Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and select Check for updates. If the upgrade is available for your device and you want to proceed, download and install it.

Thank you for the help. While I'm not sure whether it was the AMD drivers or the BIOS update that helped, the problem in which the volume could only be changed by the volume mixer was resolved.
