OMEN by HP 40L Gaming Desktop PC GT21-1000a (6M9M4AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Whenever I launch a program or do anything intensive with the cpu the audio starts to crackle and stutter. Like I open chrome,  maya, battle.net and the sound would crack. It even happens if I open a few tabs or videos on chrome and especially so if i have more than one program open

I already updated drivers, bios, windows and still nothing. Tried different headphones on the front and audio backports and still the same thing. Even tried a dac and same thing happens. Troubleshooters say everything is fine too, but the problem is still there.

Greetings @kellooo

Welcome to the HP Forum.

When did this problem start, I'm guessing the PC initially worked as expected.

Are you using the latest AMD chipset driver for your MB? Here is the latest chipset driver I could find for your MB. I'm guessing you have updated audio drivers.

I am not an electronics expert. But here's my two cents on your issue.

This sounds like the MB is producing electrical interference that is bleeding into the audio circuits.

The audio circuits should be shielded and isolated from the rest of the MB to prevent this.

And you had the same issue using an external USB DAC? The DAC should bypass limited internal electrical interference.

You mention this happens when you use headphones. Are you hearing the same stuff when using external speakers?

I think the audio chip has a problem or the MB may have a problem if updating chipset drivers does not help.

Is your PC in warranty?

Regards

Hello @Bill_To

I noticed it a few days after using it and just assumed it would go away after a while. Few months in and it's been getting really annoying multitasking with the audio messing up. External speakers have the same issue.

Unfortunately updating the chipset driver didn't really change anything.

I just checked and fortunately my pc is still under warranty. Hopefully they can work that out.

Thank you for the help
