I have HDMI connection issues:

 

1) Sometimes the audio transfers to the TV and sometimes it doesn't. I have to restart my laptop in order for it to work. Just today, that method didn't work anymore. I restarted my laptop x5 times and I still had no audio going in to the TV. Audio was still working on the laptop though.

 

2) When streaming, video will sometimes freeze on the TV but it will keep playing on the laptop when HDMI is connected. I have to rewind back multiple times.

I've had my laptop for almost 1 year now.

Try updating the computer, this will install the latest updates -

 

Step 1 Windows Updates -

1) In the search box, type, and open Windows Updates.

2) Check for updates.

3) If the updates are available, click on install and restart the computer.

 

Step 2 Install updates using HP Support Assistant

  1. In the search box, type, and open HP Support Assistant. 
  2. Check for updates. 
  3. If the updates are available, click on install and restart the computer.  

Note: If you do not have HP Support Assistant installed, Click here to download the same.

No that did not work for me. After installation, the sound did not transfer through the HDMI cable. Since the most recent update for Windows 10, I see that the HDMI sound is not longer working. I'v tried a different HDMI cable and used a different TV and the sound still plays on the laptop.

Switching the default on the control panel worked for me! Thank you! I hope I won't get any more intermittent problems with the HDMI not working like before.
