The sound stopped after an update. The error is the Intel High Def Audio DSP.
I have tried to uninstall the driver and update the driver via windows update and also from the hard drive after downloading it from the HP website. I have also tried to uninstall and reinstall the Realtek drivers using DDU but it has had no effect.
The hardware ID is :INTELAUDIO\DSP_CTLR_DEV_A0C8&VEN_8086&DEV_0222&SUBSYS_87F6103C&REV_0020
but i cannot find it in the Microsoft update catalogue.
I had tried initially rolling back the updates with a system restore which returned the sound but there were errors in the registry so I rerolled the restore back to the original point but there are no other restore points.
I have also tried uninstalling the surface headphone drivers but that has not worked either.
Any help please?

Intel has a support assistant for drivers
Please provide the Product ID or exact model name for better assistance. Preferably the full product ID including the characters after the # symbol.

Hello.
My laptop is:
HP Spectre x360 Convertible 14-ea0xxx
2G2C7EA#ABU
I have looked at intel support but it does not mention audio drivers. I have checked the download centre for High Def audio DSP but it only shows drivers for NUC's which I don't think is what I have.

I believe you need the IntelHDASST driver set as discussed here
It seems to be part of the Realtek audio driver and the HP site for your laptop shows April 2022 for that driver date. That is not windows 11 I suspect
Since that Intel support assistant did not help then possibly
Intel® Smart Sound Technology Drivers 10.29.0.11192:

Hi,
Apologies for the delay again. I did not see the reply.
Unfortunately, this has not worked. I downloaded the cabinet files in both posts (ending ecaf1 and 8f9b) and extracted them but there does not appear to be any folders inside them apart from individual files and none that seem to be INTELHDASST.
I tried the update driver but got the error message:
I have tried downloading the old HP driver file on the HP website and saved it in the downloads folder but there does not appear to be any HDASST files there either.
Do you have another suggestion please?

The link to IntelHDASST (answers at microsoft) indicated the Realtek drivers solved the problem for 4 users. I am not sure why as Realtek is not the same as Intel
Try the latest win11 realtek
Realtek audio audio 6.0.9618 win11 mar 1, 2024 Download
This came from x360 14-fa0000 laptop
Possibly our senior expert @Paul_Tikkanen might know of a better driver. It seems that microsoft recommended the realtek drivers when the problem appeared to be the "Intel DSP"
It is possible to do a factory restore here

Hi, @Jonharp165
See if this works...manually install the driver from the Microsoft Update Catalog at the link below as follows:
1. Download the first file listed.
2. Download and install the free 7-Zip file utility from the link below. The first link is for 64 Bit:
3. After you install 7-Zip, right click on the catalog file you downloaded from Microsoft.
Have 7-Zip Extract to: and let it extract the cabinet file into its folder name.
4. After 7-Zip has created the driver folder, go to the device manager.
Click on the Intel High-Definition DSP audio device needing the driver.
Click on the driver tab.
Click on Update driver.
Select the 'Browse my computer for drivers' option and browse to the driver folder that 7-Zip created.
Make sure that the Include subfolders box is checked and the driver should install.
Then restart the PC and hopefully, the audio will be working again.
The actual driver for the hardware ID you posted is in the IntcOED.inf
Intel(R) Corporation = Intel, NTAMD64.10.0...17763
[Intel.NTAMD64.10.0...17763]
%IntcOED.DeviceDesc% = IntcOED_TGL, INTELAUDIO\DSP_CTLR_DEV_A0C8&VEN_8086&DEV_0222

Hi,
It still says that there are no Drivers there. There was a minor sucess when the DSP moved from the other devices folder to the Sounds and Games controllers but the Realtek driver crashed and it moved back to the other devices again.
I will try the factory restore unless you have another suggestion.
Regards.

The only other suggestion I can offer, since the driver is clearly in that folder would be to browse directly to that IntcOED setup information file and see if that works.
You do that by clicking on the Intel High-Definition DSP audio device needing the driver.
Click on the driver tab.
Click on Update driver.
Select the 'Browse my computer for drivers' option and browse to the driver folder that 7-Zip created and then at the bottom of that window, select the 'Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer.'
Click on Have Disk, and browse to the driver folder> IntcOED setup information file, click Next and see if the driver installs that way.
If that doesn't work, unfortunately I don't have any other suggestions for you to try other than factory resetting the PC and hope that fixes the problem, and it doesn't reoccur when the updates are installed again.
