I have many of these same units in a lab environment. 2 of them are showing this message after updating Windows. When I go into Device Manager the IDT High Definition Audio Device CODEC is not even shown any more.
I tried updating with both sp71717 and sp71886 with no success.

That seemed to be it. I was finally able to see the missing device under "unknown sources" in the device manager. When I clicked on that, it was trying to use the IDT High Definition Audio Device CODEC for some reason.
I selected that device, went into the driver properties to find an updated driver but instead selected find one on my PC. Two drivers were listed, the IDT High Definition Audio Device CODEC and the one you mentioned, HD Stereo Codec. I selected the HD Stereo codec and even though it gave me a warning that the codec may not work properly, everything was back to normal with full sound.
Thank you.
