Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Can't get my new Monitor HP 27" Curved Z4N74AA to produce sound using HDMI cable (native).

I've installed latest drivers, have the device:

HP 27 Curved (2- NVidia High Definition Audio)

listed as audio device.

Despite the device is listed and selected, no sound is produced. However, if I plug headphone jack in monitor - headphones play all sounds, which means that native HDMI cable is OK.

Tried restarting after drivers setup and all combinations of disabling and enabling inputs and outputs.

Intel Core i7, NVidia GTX 1660, Realtek Audio

P.S. Tech bug of this forum: I've tried to put this string into 'Message Tags' field: Curved, sound, monitor, HP, 27, no, Z4N74AA

And when trying to Post - got redirected to the same New Message form without any failure notices and without my message posted. Took me quite some time to figure out the cause. Finally made a post with blank 'Message Tags'. Please pass this to site tech support.

@eugene-chabanov,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I reviewed your post and I understand that you are not getting any sound from the monitor.

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

Do you have any external speakers connected to the monitor?

Meanwhile, I would like to inform you that there are no speakers in the monitor however, you can connect external speakers to the monitor, and you will get stereo sound from the audio output.

Please refer to the below link for the monitor specifications.

Hi @The_Fossette

Thank you for your reply. It appears that indeed this monitor has no built-in speakers. Actually tomorrow I was about to give it a ride back to the store for 'warranty repair' so you saved me half a day.

All this because when you google 'z4n74aa specs' the first result gives a misleading information (cnet page) : "Audio: Speakers".

While the link you gave (official HP specs, which is second in search results) says nothing about speakers.

By the way, this monitor is great, I'll leave it as it is and buy external speakers.

Thank you.
