I noticed that his particular computer does not have a jack so that I can talk to the computer. I have dragon, so I can ditate my books on line. It makes it so much easier. Is there an adapter that I can purchase so I can do this?

Its specs

     https://support.hp.com/au-en/document/c06000982

which says it has  Lincs Back I/O ports

  • (1) VGA port
  • (1) HDMI 1.4/HDCP 2.2
  • (1) USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A port
  • (5) USB 2.0 Type-A ports
  • (3) Audio ports
  • (1) RJ-45 port

You should see standard color coded of 3 audio ports: Green, Blue and Pink. You can use Pink port for Microphone

If they were not there, please try the following USB adapter

    https://www.amazon.com.au/UGREEN-External-Headphone-Microphone-Computers/dp/B016CU2PEU

There are MANY similar around.  Please go to a good computer shop and asking for USB sound card with microphone jack.

Regards.
