HP Pro Mini 400 G9 PC (4G4N7AV)

Following recent updates my PC will not recognise my Audio Output Devices. Troubleshooter identifies issue with Windows Audio Services but can't fix it. I've updated all drivers and even done a full windows reset to no avail. When I deep dive into services it shows windows audio not running and it won't allow me to start it manually - showing error 1067. I found a partial fix by right clicking and going into the properties and changing to local system account, which allows my PC to recognise Realtek Audio but still won't play any audio or find my speakers. At a loss as to what to do. Even the Microsoft support technician couldn't fix it! Is this a common problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

This is a new known issue affecting most, if not all, Mini devices: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Audio/USB-Audio-devices-kill-service/td-p/8867595

Hi,

I have a HP workstation G9 and I have exactly the same issue that started recently. I have tried all the things mentioned in this post including resetting the PC , all to no avail. I earn my living by doing online meetings and I am unable to do my work because of this.

I would like to report a critical issue I am facing with my Pro Mini 400 G9 equipment. Initially, the audio was working perfectly, but after performing some updates, the audio simply stopped functioning. This situation has caused me significant inconvenience, especially when using applications like WhatsApp, where when attempting to play audio, an error message is displayed, stating: "An Opus codec is required to perform this action."

To resolve this problem, I have conducted a series of tests and procedures. First, I ran all the diagnostic tests on the equipment, ensuring that there were no evident physical issues. Additionally, I temporarily removed any antivirus software that was running, in an attempt to eliminate external interference.

I also tested it with a local user, outside my network, to ensure that the problem was not related to my specific network configuration. Unfortunately, the issues persist, regardless of the network environment used.

I attempted to connect a Bluetooth device and also used the wireless connection, but the Pro Mini 400 G9 equipment does not produce audio output in any of these cases. The only exception was when the audio was played in the BIOS during testing, indicating that, at a hardware level, the audio is still functional. However, at an operational level, I cannot obtain any audio output.

I am confident that I have performed all the basic troubleshooting procedures, and the problem appears to be specific to the operating system or recent updates. I would like to urgently request your assistance in resolving this issue, as audio capability is crucial for daily productivity and communication.
