Speaker/Headphone switches off every time the communication headphones are in use, which makes it so if I am calling a friend, I can't hear any background audio (music, etc.) and only their voice. When the communication headphones are not being used, the Speaker/Headphone switches back on.

Welcome to the HP Support Community!
I reviewed your post and I understand that the Speaker/Headphone switches off every time you make a call, or the communication headphones are in use.
Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.
When you make a call or join an audio conference the music (audio) which turns off and it is normal behavior and it is by design.
I hope that answers your question and you have a great day!
If you wish to show appreciation for my efforts, mark my post as Accept as Solution. Your feedback counts!
