HP All-in-One Desktop PC 27-cr0000a (76M59AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Recently purchased HP All-in-One Desktop PC 27-cr0000a and I am experiencing a random static/crackle noise coming from the speakers when playing music.

This seems to be apparent when opening apps (HP app included) although not exclusively.

I have run the onboard diagnostics and the results identify no problems.

I am of a certain age therefore would require step by step instructions on any resolutions.

Hope this can be resolved as otherwise I am happy with the PC so far.

Look forward to hearing from you.

Hi @Tiggy2000,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your new HP All-in-One Desktop PC 27-cr0000a is producing random static or crackling sounds from the speakers, especially when opening apps. Let’s go step by step to troubleshoot and resolve this.

1. Restart Your PC

Turn off your PC completely and wait 30 seconds.

Turn it back on and check if the static persists.

Sometimes, temporary software glitches cause audio issues.

2. Check Audio Connections & Volume

If you are using external speakers or headphones, ensure they are properly connected.

Make sure the volume is not too high; sometimes, max volume causes distortion.

3. Update Audio Drivers

Press Windows + X > Device Manager > Sound, video and game controllers.

Right-click your audio device (e.g., Realtek High Definition Audio) > Update driver > Search automatically.

Alternatively, download the latest audio driver from HP Support for your PC model.

4. Adjust Audio Settings

Right-click the speaker icon in the taskbar > Open Sound settings > Device properties > Additional device properties.

Under the Enhancements tab, check Disable all enhancements.

Click Apply and test the audio again.

5. Change Default Format

In the same Device properties > Advanced tab, change the Default Format to a lower quality (e.g., 16 bit, 44100 Hz).

Click Test to see if the crackling persists.

6. Check for Interference

Move any wireless devices, phones, or USB hubs away from the PC speakers.

Sometimes, electromagnetic interference causes static sounds.

7. Run Windows Audio Troubleshooter

Go to Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters > Playing Audio.

Run the troubleshooter and follow on-screen instructions.

I hope this helps.

Hi Kuroi_Kenshi,

Appreciate the prompt response to my query regarding the static interference I am experiencing with my new HP PC.

I have went through your troubleshooting list but unfortunately none of those made any difference to my problem.

This is happening when playing music via the internal speakers and most notable when accessing the "MY HP" app.

Very noticeable when loading the app and intermittently while the app is open, maybe this is something that could be looked into.

Thanks again for your assistance and look forward to any other solutions that may be forthcoming.

Look forward to your response.

Kindest regards,

Tiggy 2000

An update to my problem re-static/crackling noise coming from internal speakers.

I have just purchased some PC speakers as the disruption to the sound from the PC is irritating.

After connecting the speakers via the USB port at the rear of the PC I notice the interference was still audiuble, this would indicate that it is NOT the speakers that are at fault.

I have to connect my new speakers via bluetooth to eliminate the distortation.

Still not sure how to rectify this problem, contemplating visiting the shop where purchased as this item is only weeks old !!

Regards,

Stewart

Hi @Tiggy2000,

Thank you for the update and for testing with both internal and external speakers, that helps narrow things down. Since the static/crackling persists even on USB speakers but disappears when using Bluetooth, this suggests the issue may be related to the PC’s audio driver or hardware interference rather than the speakers themselves. Let’s try a few more advanced steps:

Update Chipset & Audio Drivers from HP Support

Go to the HP Support website.

Enter your PC model (HP All-in-One Desktop PC 27-cr0000a).

Download and install the latest chipset drivers and audio drivers listed.

Restart your PC after installation.

Disable Exclusive Mode in Sound Settings

Right-click the speaker icon > Sounds > select your playback device > Properties.

Under the Advanced tab, uncheck Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device.

Click Apply and test again.

Check for BIOS/UEFI Update

On the same HP Support page, check if a BIOS update is available.

Carefully follow the on-screen instructions to update (this can resolve hardware compatibility issues).

Test with Safe Mode or Clean Boot

Restart the PC in Safe Mode with Networking (press Shift + Restart > Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Settings).

Play audio in Safe Mode. If no static is heard, another background app or driver may be conflicting with the audio system.

A clean boot can also help isolate the culprit.

I hope this helps.

Hi Kuroi_Kenshi,

Thank you for the latest suggestions to rectify my speaker problem received 23rd.Sept.25.

As advised I downloaded the Audio Drivers (2) that were available on the HP site, I also checked the sound properties "Enhanced Setting", all were set to "OFF" although I did not have the stated option "Allow applications.....".

Unfortunately after the restart, this did not resolve the issue.

Having then moved onto the BIOS/UEFI check, after downloading the latest file listed on the site I was given the message as stated on the attached screenshot therefore did progress this option.

I am afraid I will returning this PC to the shop to see if they can resolve the issue as I feel the attempts are now reaching my limit of expertise and comfort zone.

Appreciate your assitance relating to this problem, unfortunately this has slightly tarnished my experience with HP as this is my first HP PC.

Thanks again.

Stewart.
