I have an external subwoofer connected through the 3.5 mm jack in the back of my computer. After upgrading to Windows 10, it has stopped functioning with all playback (itunes, online videos, windows media). It does, however, work when I test the speaker in the Beats interface. The built-in front speakers still work perfectly. I have uninstalled the IDT driver and reinstalled it, still nothing. All drivers seem to be up to date. Any ideas?

Hello @Papakins,
Thank you for the quick reply!
@Malygris1 is currently out of the office, so I will be taking over for him. Did you try installing the IDT driver using the Windows 10 compatibility mode, as instructed in the previous post? I understand that the external speakers will work, when using the Beats interface. Have you tried restoring the BIOS? You can use the following document to assist you:

Hi there @Papakins,
May the Forums be with you! It is a great place to find the help you need, from other users, HP experts, and other support personnel. I understand that after upgrading to Windows 10, you are no longer getting sound from a speaker. I am happy to give you a hand with this.
Looking at the HP TouchSmart 610-1010t CTO Desktop PC Software and Drivers page, there are no specific drivers for Windows 10. Please verify that your installation was the upgrade installation and not a clean install.
If it was an upgrade installation, try installing the IDT driver one more time, but use Windows 10 compatibility mode, and see if that works for you. Please see this Microsoft page on how to do that: How to: Install and Update drivers in Windows 10 - answers.microsoft.com.
If that does not work for you, another choice would be to uninstall the driver entirely from within Device Manager and then Scan for hardware changes..
Please let me know whether any of that works for you, and if it does resolve your issue, please mark this post as a solution. Kudos would also be appreciated.

Thank you for the assistance. I ran the Windows 10 driver update, and only one came up, which was just a Microsoft Office 2010 32-bit update. All else was up to date. As you suggested, I did completely uninstall the driver from device manager, restart the computer, and then ran a scan for hardware. It might be worth noting that the input on the sub is an rca style jack. The cable I use to connect it to the computer has a 3.5 mm jack on one end, and 2 male rca connectors on the other, the positive being the one plugged into the sub. Before the update, this worked just fine. Thank you for your help.

Thank you for the update. If I am reading your response correctly the audio is still not working for you. Did you try installing the IDT driver using Windows 10 compatibility mode, as I had also suggested?
Or am I misreading and all is working fine now.

Hi guys,
I am having the same problem but some of the things you said to be the solution are above my knowledge. How did you restore the BIOS, could you please share some instructions?
I updated to 10 as part of the whole deal from microsoft and was very closed from tossing my subwoofer cause of the issue.. to complicate matters I lost the recovery partion so I don't have a way to go back to 7.
I apprecciate your help.
