Hi @Coryhranicky,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
No worries, I can guide you through some simple steps to get the internal microphone on your HP All-in-One working. Let's try to get this sorted out.
Check Microphone Settings
- Click on the speaker icon in the bottom right corner of your screen (next to the clock).
- Right-click on the icon and select "Open Sound settings".
- Scroll down to "Input" and make sure the microphone is listed as the "Default Device".
- If you see a different device listed, click the drop-down menu and select your internal microphone.
- Test if it's picking up sound by speaking into the mic, and check if the input level bar moves.
Update the Microphone Driver
- Press the Windows key and type "Device Manager" in the search box, then press Enter.
- In Device Manager, look for "Audio Inputs and Outputs" and click on the arrow next to it to expand.
- Right-click on the microphone device and select "Update Driver".
- Choose "Search automatically for updated driver software" and let it find the latest driver for your mic.
Enable Microphone in Privacy Settings
- Press the Windows key and go to Settings.
- Select Privacy & Security and scroll down to Microphone.
- Make sure that "Microphone access" is turned on for apps.
Test the Microphone
After completing these steps, you can test the microphone by opening the Voice Recorder app on Windows:
- Press the Windows key and type "Voice Recorder".
- Click on the app, then press the Record button and try speaking into the mic.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Thank you very much for your email. I honestly didn't expect anyone to respond. After I posted my message, I kept digging and discovered that my computer doesn't have a microphone. You can't imagine how I felt when I realized that. I felt terrible for getting upset with HP due to my own oversight, so I truly apologize.
Thanks again and have a fantastic weekend.

Hi @Coryhranicky,
Thank you for your response,
Thank you for clarifying, and realizing your computer doesn’t have a built-in microphone after troubleshooting can indeed be surprising, but it’s a common misunderstanding. I'm glad you're now looking for an external microphone solution!
