There is something wrong with the memory, not the processor.

If the processor was not supported or defective, you would be getting an invalid microcode error or a 3-beep code error or an 11-beep code error.

Remove all of the memory chips but one and see if the PC works.

Test each memory chip one at a time.

Hi:

Please see the troubleshooting guide at the link below, Appendix A, page 58 for how to troubleshoot the 5-beep code error.

You are probably the first person on this forum who removed an i7-3770 and replaced it with an i3-3220.

Most folks want to upgrade their PC's processor.

Below is the link to the HP Quickspecs for your PC.

I do not see the i3-3220 on the list of processors offered in the model series.

@Paul_Tikkanen,

You'll find one or two HP Compaq Elite 8300 CMT Users who fitted their desktops with an i3-3220 at the very bottom of the UserBenchMark performance benchmark barrel: HP Compaq Elite 8300 MT Performance Results - UserBenchmark.

it is not because some sell a computer with this configuration that it is better..
So it doesn't work, don't worry, replace the original processor
