Yea, probably had optane memory.

From ChatGPT:

To determine if your system has Intel Optane Memory installed, you can check your system specifications using various methods, including:

  1. Device Manager (Windows):

    • Right-click on the Start button and select "Device Manager."
    • Expand the "Disk drives" category.
    • Look for an entry that includes "Intel(R) Optane(TM) +" or similar in the name, indicating the presence of Intel Optane Memory.
  2. Intel Rapid Storage Technology (RST) (Windows):

    • If you have Intel RST installed, open the Intel RST application.
    • Look for information about Intel Optane Memory in the application's interface.
  3. System Information (Windows):

    • Press Win + R, type msinfo32, and press Enter.
    • Look for information related to Intel Optane Memory in the "Components" > "Storage" section.
  4. Intel Optane Memory and Storage Management (Windows):

    • If you have the Intel Optane Memory and Storage Management application installed, open it to check if Optane Memory is detected.
  5. Intel Optane Memory Pinning (Windows):

    • Open "Settings" > "Apps" > "Apps & features."
    • Look for "Intel Optane Pinning Explorer Extensions" in the list of installed apps, which indicates the presence of Intel Optane Memory.
  6. Intel Optane Memory Setup in BIOS/UEFI:

    • Restart your computer and enter BIOS/UEFI settings (usually by pressing a key during startup, such as F2, Del, or Esc).
    • Look for an Intel Optane Memory setup section, which may indicate the presence of Intel Optane Memory.
  7. System Profiler (Linux):

    • Use a system profiler tool (e.g., lshw, lspci, hwinfo) in Linux to check for information related to Intel Optane Memory.
  8. Physical Inspection:

    • If you're comfortable opening your computer, you can physically check if an Intel Optane Memory module is installed in an M.2 slot on your motherboard.

it appears optane is not even supported by Intel

probably better to replace the 16gb with a 1tb nvme.  I did that on my alienware.
