Hello,
We own a pavilion p7-1074be desktop.
We had set the power-on (BIOS) password to be empty.
On turning on the computer however it says the password is incorrect.
After three attempts, it shows a star symbol *, but does not give any code.
Rebooting the computer re-allows three attempts.
We tried the following:
- Previous passwords, with and without caps lock, num lock, ...
- Resetting the BIOS using the CMOS jumper.
- Resetting the BIOS by removing, waiting, and replacing the CMOS battery.
but none of this works, the computer still asks for a power-on password and still refuses the one we had set.
Is there another way to bypass this problem?
Thank you for your help.

Hi:
Please read the info at the link below under Clearing the Password Settings...Last item listed.
There is a password jumper and a cmos jumper. You need to move the password jumper.
