Hello, smarter people then me 😊

Just have to ask for help  ( reference to persons who knows what they are talking about), PC model is this :https://support.hp.com/gb-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-compaq-elite-8300-ultra-slim-pc/5232866/model/52...

Downloaded BIOS from update and just cant install it.

1. HPQFlash finishes is job to end but Bios remain old.

2. F10 - Boot ROM - refuses to install saying " incompatible ". The same answer from all functions provided by ESC button choices in a boot.

3. DOS -dosflash  saying  "system ROM image is invalid "

From my stand point -if looks like a duck, walks like a duck and sound like a duck so must be a duck !

Dear, smarter people like me, Where I can get working BIOS ROM image for my PC model ?

Thank you all in advance

Hi:

You used this file?  This is the one you need to go to the 03.xx versions.

v02.99 Rev.A   Oct 19, 2015

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp73001-73500/sp73099.exe

If so, the only suggestion I can offer is to try going from v02.99 to an earlier 03.xx version, like 03.02 or 03.03.

03.02 Rev.A   Jun 09, 2016

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp76001-76500/sp76230.exe

03.03 Rev.A   Sept 07, 2016

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp77001-77500/sp77361.exe

One other thing...use the F10 BIOS setup flash method, which is the easiest and safest way to update the BIOS.

You have to make sure that you format the USB flash drive with the FAT32 file system, not NTFS.

Then just copy the file contents of the DOS flash folder to the USB flash drive.

Restart the PC, tap the ESC key to get the menu of options, select the F10 setup option.

At the top of the BIOS screen, select the File tab>Flash system ROM command and select the USB flash drive.

The PC should 'see' the BIOS files on the flash drive.

Follow the on-screen instructions to update the BIOS.

Hi:

If you are trying to update the BIOS from a version older than v2.99 to one of the 3.xx versions, you have to first update to v2.99 and from there you can update to one of the 3.xx versions.

This information is provided on the BIOS v.2.99 version.

Version: v02.99 Rev.A
Fixed in this release: - Customers MUST flash this BIOS first, before flashing to the v03.xx versions.
- Added enhancement to allow for flashing forward to v03.xx.
- This is the same version as v02.98.

Dear Paul,

grateful for you response -that is same new information for me.

                                         Existing BIOS version : 02.05

I'm trying to upgrade to version  VERSION: 03.08  ( K01_0308.BIN )

Looks like as you are saying I have to have upgraded to BIOS v.2.99 to get to BIOS v.03.08.

Thank you, I'm will do that and let you know how it goes.

You're very welcome.

That is correct.

You can find all of the previous BIOS update file downloads at the link below, under the Revision History section, all the way at the bottom.  The revision history section also provides all of the fixes and enhancements the BIOS updates provided.

Hi ,

half way to success !

from v.2.05 to v2.9 upgrading process using HPQFlash was pleasant and painless.

Know PC runs with v.2.9 BIOS

From v.2.9 to v.3.08 it is quite different picture, just don't want to upgrade....

Have tray with HPQFlash and DOS no success.

After installing v.2.9 PC power was off and power cord off.

Dear Paul, any ideas ?

Does not exist any BIOS between version 2.9 and 3.08, does it ?
