I bought a demo laptop that was stuck in demo mode. it got stuck on a bitlocker restore key screen after one restart. how can i fix this because i dont have an account linked to the laptop. its still in demo.

Well, because the laptop is a retail store demo unit locked by an unknown BitLocker recovery key, you cannot bypass or crack the current encryption screen to access the existing operating system.

But since it is a demo laptop, there is no personal data to save, meaning the most efficient and practical fix is to completely wipe the drive and install a clean, standard version of Windows. This simultaneously removes BitLocker and strips out the restricted retail demo mode software. Voilà, easy-peasy.

Follow these steps to clean-install your laptop.

1. Requirements for the Clean Install:

Because the laptop is completely locked down, you will need a few external tools:

• Access to another working Windows computer.
• A blank USB flash drive with at least 8GB or 16GB of storage.

2. Prepare the Bootable USB Installer:

1. On the working computer, open a browser and navigate to the official Microsoft Download Windows 11 page (or Windows 10, depending on your system's license).
2. Download the Media Creation Tool under the "Create Windows 11 Installation Media" section.
3. Plug in your blank USB drive, run the downloaded tool, and select USB flash drive when prompted.
4. Allow the tool to download the installation files and convert your flash drive into an installer.

3. Wipe the Laptop and Install Windows:

1. Make sure the demo laptop is completely turned off.
2. Insert the newly prepared USB installer into one of the laptop's USB ports.
3. Turn the laptop on and immediately press the F9 key repeatedly until the Boot Manager menu appears.
4. Use your arrow keys to select your USB Flash Drive from the boot list and press Enter.
5. When the Windows Setup screen loads, choose your language preferences and click Next > Install Now.
6. Handle the Product Key Prompt: When prompted for a product key, click "I don't have a product key." You do not need to buy a new one; a valid, legal Windows license is already permanently embedded directly inside your laptop's motherboard firmware chip.
7. Select the Matching Windows Version: Choose your preferred Windows edition. Critical: You must select the exact same version the laptop originally shipped with (usually Windows 11 Home for standard consumer retail models -but not always). Once the installation finishes and connects to the internet, Windows will automatically read the license from your motherboard and activate itself instantly. If you accidentally select the wrong version (like Pro instead of Home), the embedded key will not match and it will fail to activate.
8. Critical Step: When asked which type of installation you want, select "Custom: Install Windows only (advanced)".
9. You will see a list of drive partitions. Select each partition one by one and click Delete until you are left with just a single item labeled "Drive 0 Unallocated Space". (This completely destroys the locked BitLocker structure and the store demo environment).
10. Click Next to allow Windows to install cleanly onto the blank drive.

Once the installation finishes, the laptop will reboot into the standard, brand-new spiffy Windows out-of-box setup, allowing you to link your own Microsoft account without any retail demo restrictions or encryption prompts.

I installed windows 11 and im in the setup, but for some reason i dont have network drivers and cant conenct to the wifi, what do i do

That's actually not uncommon after a clean Windows installation.

During the Windows Out-of-Box Experience (OOBE), Windows sometimes doesn't include the correct driver for the laptop's wireless adapter, so no Wi-Fi networks are displayed.

You have several options:

Option 1 (Recommended): Connect via Ethernet:

If your laptop has an RJ-45 Ethernet port (or you have a USB-to-Ethernet adapter), connect it directly to your router. Windows Update will usually download the correct wireless driver automatically within a few minutes.

Option 2: Install the Wi-Fi driver manually:

Using another computer:

1. Go to HP Support.
2. Enter your laptop's exact model number (or Product Number).
3. Download the appropriate Wireless LAN driver.
4. Copy it to a USB flash drive.
5. Install it on the laptop.
6. Restart the computer.

Option 3: Use a USB Wi-Fi adapter:

If you have access to a USB Wi-Fi adapter (or USB tethering from an Android phone), that can provide temporary Internet access so Windows Update can install the correct HP drivers.

Option 4: Bypass the Internet requirement:

If you're still at the Windows setup screen and simply want to finish the installation without networking, you can use the built-in bypass:

• Press Shift + F10.
• At the Command Prompt, type: OOBE\BYPASSNRO
• Press Enter.

The system will reboot, and you'll be given an "I don't have Internet" option so you can complete Windows setup with a local account. Once you're at the desktop, you can install the proper Wi-Fi driver.
