Hi @Jonilynn7,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand the system is showing the “Boot Device Not Found (3F0)” message even though the hardware diagnostics are passing. Since the drive passes diagnostics, this usually points to a boot configuration issue, corrupted operating system files, or the system no longer detecting a valid Windows boot loader.

Please try the steps below in order.

Step 1: Hard Reset

  1. Turn the computer OFF completely.
  2. Disconnect the charger and any external devices (USB drives, printers, etc.).
  3. Hold the Power button for 15 seconds.
  4. Reconnect the charger and try powering ON again.

Step 2: Check Boot Order in BIOS

  1. Turn the PC ON and immediately tap F10 repeatedly to enter BIOS.
  2. Go to the Boot Options or Storage tab.
  3. Confirm the hard drive/SSD is detected.
  4. Ensure:
    • OS Boot Manager is listed first in the boot order.
  5. Press F10 to save and exit.

If the drive is not detected in BIOS, that may indicate a connection or hardware issue with the SSD/HDD.

Step 3: Restore BIOS Defaults

  1. While in BIOS, press F9 to load setup defaults.
  2. Select Yes
  3. Press F10 to save and restart.

Step 4: Run Extensive Hardware Diagnostics Again

  1. Power ON the PC and tap Esc repeatedly.
  2. Press F2 for HP Hardware Diagnostics
  3. Run:
    • System Extensive Test
    • Storage Extensive Test

Even if the quick tests pass, the extensive storage test can sometimes detect issues missed earlier.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!

I'm an HP Employee.
