Hi. I walked over to my computer today and there was a message on it saying boot device not found. No hard drive installed. I looked up some things online and it said to hit F2 and run a check on the hard drive. It says SMART Check: not installed Long DST: not installed. I need help please. I was using it just fine last night and I’m not really what I would call tech savvy. If there’s no operating system, shouldn’t there be a recovery option? Help!!

Hi
First:- Turn off the computer, press and hold the PWR button for 4 seconds.
Then - Leave only keyboard and mouse connected, disconnect all externally connected
devices such as Docking Station, USB storage devices, displays, and printers.
Unplug the AC adapter from the computer.
Next - Press and Hold the Power button for 15 seconds to Hard Reset.
Rinse and Repeat; Re-Connect the AC adapter.
NOW begin checking/testing/proving the Hardware is fit for purpose.
Power on your PC, press ESC (repeatedly), then F2 at the prompt.
Choose System Tests (Fast Test does a 4 minute hardware check).
The F11 recovery option is on the Hard Disk, and if the Hard Disk has completely failed then it has gone along with your DATA.
So please try the above and post back any results.
