Boot device not found. An operating system is being asked to be installed

Welcome to the HP Forum.

 

There are two possible reasons for seeing this error:

 

1. System drive failure

 

2. Corrupted OS boot loader.

 

Check your PC's hardware using HP Diagnostics as follows:

Start the PC. Repeatedly tap the "ESC" key.

Select "F2". Run extensive system and component tests to confirm: a drive problem, a memory problem, or other component problem.
