That makes sense.

The computer always uses '3F0' to communicate with some device (CD/DVD, or M.2 SATA adapter),

Your computer always uses '3F1' to communicate with the device connected to 'SATA-0'.

Your computer always uses '3F2' to communicate with the device connected to 'SATA-1'.

What happens if you connect either disk-drive (old or new) to a different computer?

(Disconnect that computer's CD/DVD and original disk-drive, leaving only your drive connected.)

Do you still get "disk error" when you power-on that computer?

Hi

Did this issue ever get resolved? I'd really like to know as I'm having more or less the same issue!

Any help or advice would be really appreciated!

Thanks
