That makes sense.
The computer always uses '3F0' to communicate with some device (CD/DVD, or M.2 SATA adapter),
Your computer always uses '3F1' to communicate with the device connected to 'SATA-0'.
Your computer always uses '3F2' to communicate with the device connected to 'SATA-1'.
What happens if you connect either disk-drive (old or new) to a different computer?
(Disconnect that computer's CD/DVD and original disk-drive, leaving only your drive connected.)
Do you still get "disk error" when you power-on that computer?
