In regards to the program I believe i used the one that is circled below:
A pendrive yes is the same as usb flash drive. You can also use your computer hard drive. What I dont recommend is to run this from a network drive.
A word of notice once this program run your mouse would freeze. This doesn't mean that the computer is frozen because the program should show the progress on the screen running. I believe the mouse will freeze in order to not make the mistake of closing the program by mistake while the bios is updating.

Thank You very much - that is really working!!
I could rollback the BIOS on my machine to F.54A and everything is fine now again.
You can get the old .bin and .sig files also by executing the old BIOS .exe and then choose "Copy BIOS image to any file location. (Advanced users)"

I did try copying the bias to A USB stick and it didn't help just prevented me from downgrading.
Hp tech called me they received my PC and say they ran tests and it never locked at all when I stressed happened since update bios. They are going try reload windows and I know they will send it back saying it's working. I spent 350 dollars requesting mobo. Tech also couldn't downgrade bios.

P1Idob04…Did you already sent the mobo back?
The bios downgrade that works is by using the Ami Bios firmware utility from ami bios website with the HP F.55 bin file from HP website, the downgrade is done inside windows 10. Not thru the HP bios setup.
I downgraded the bios last Saturday and I haven’t experienced any freeze of any kind. The PC is working like its supposed to be.

My computer is already at the repair shop at hewlett packard. If you can send me the information on getting the bias afiwin file that would be great in case they don't fix the problem for me. I have the f.41 bin and sig file need the win utility

@ P1ldob04: the solution of Wildsoldier and others in several topics once more:
I was able to rollback the faulty F.57 BIOS to F.54A BIOS version - look for the last BIOS version in HP driver support for Your machine; for me (SSID 8433) it's F.54A, for others it might be F.55A.
1. Download the "AMI Firmware Update Utility" at "https://www.ami.com/resources/support-other/"
This is a zip file. Inside the zip file there are more zip files. The program you need is inside the zip file at "AMIBIOS_and_Aptio_AMI_Firmware_Update_Utility\Aptio_V_AMI_Firmware_Update_Utility.zip\afu\afuwin\64.... extract the contents of "AfuWin64.zip" to an empty USB drive.
2. Then get the old .bin and .sig files by executing the former (mine is F.54A) BIOS.exe (mine is sp139464.exe) and then choosing "Copy BIOS image to any file location. (Advanced users)" and put the two files in the same direction on the USB drive where You extract the AfuWin64 files.
3. Open a CMD shell, run it as administrator.
4. Inside the CMD shell change to the USB drive, for example G:
5. Type "afuwinx64 08433.bin /P /B /N /REBOOT" (without quotation marks) and press Return - Before You do this You should shut down all open programs and save the data, there will be no warning of data loss!!
The process of downgrading the BIOS starts. The process takes up to 5 minutes, You can watch the progress.
The mouse is freezing, I think this shall prevent the user from doing foolish things ...
Then there will be a reboot....The reboot takes longer than usual and the screen may remain black for some time - do not interrupt the process!!! Give the machine the time it needs - think of the time You spent on not-solving this issue before.
Consider: You do this at Your own risk, I am not responsible for any damage. I do not work for or represent HP!!
On my machine (HP Pavilion 590-p0533ng) this solution worked perfect.
Please pardon my bad German-English. If You find any spelling mistakes You can keep them ...

I see someone found a solution for downgrading. I just got hit by this issue as Windows 11 was acting stupid and attempted to wipe/reinstall (11 & 10). How do we go about downgrading BIOS if we don't have a working copy of Windows installed?

Dear colleagues, I found a solution for our HP 285 G3 MT Business PCs which had the same problem applying the F.57 BIOS firmware update. In some cases we could not switch off the PCs, in some cases they would not start any more. These were about 15 PCs and HP refused to help because we are out of guarantee. That's the sad thing. But there's also a good thing HP has done and a very easy solution which worked for us:
1. download the appropriate (i.e. older) firmware for the the defective PC on another working PC (in our case it was Version F.55)
2. have a USB-stick which can be formatted and place it into the working PC
3. start the sp*.exe file and accept Admin rights
4. for us we had the possibility to apply the data files onto the stick which has to be formatted by the firmware tool
5. wait until the application is done
6. place the stick into the defective PC (it should be off at that time)
7. press the WINDOWS+B keys and hold them
8. switch on the defective PC and keep WINDOWS+B pressed until the first of eight beeps occur
9. wait. In a few seconds the firmware should be programmed
This way was successful for three PCs now so I guess it should work for the others too....
Best regards from Germany
Ralf

@ SmokeDogg:
You can try the solution of Ralf777 - this solution (similar described on HP support homepage as restoring BIOS with a USB drive; it's normally used for restoring a defective BIOS) didn't work on my machine, after "WinKey + B" the BIOS "repairs" itself always using the installed (faulty F.57) BIOS again and ignores the USB drive or telling that the BIOS on the USB drive is older than the installed one and stops. But if it works for Ralf777 that might also work on Your machine, so try it.
Another idea (not tested): the "AMI Firmware Update Utility" contains the same program for DOS (if You still know about this old OS). But then You still need DOS (downloadable for free) and the .bin and .sig file from the working/old BIOS.
For both solutions You need a working machine or a good friend with a working machine.
Please post Your experiences here.
I wish You ultimate success!
