Pavilion 260-p026
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

The computer takes forever to boot up and then desktop icons  do not work all the time.  When I do get to a URL the computer sputters and jumps so that nothing can be seen clearly.  I have done everything suggested by HP and the Virtual assistant and still nothig changes.  If I start and restart several times, the computer will work fine for a while.  I had the computer checked and Staples tech said it was all right.  If someone can suggest something, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you

Hi,

Your PC is over five years old. You have a slow platter HDD. Have you ever refreshed or reinstalled the operating System? You could have a lot of unnecessary startup items and general operating system degradation due to time.

I can suggest backing up data. Reinstall or refresh the operating system on the existing HDD.

It would also be smart to upgrade the slow platter HHD to a SATA SSD. This action in addition to reinstalling the OS should give great results.

Regards

PC is 21/2 years old.  Unfortunately, I am not that adept to complete the steps you offerred.  Thank you for your response.
