I have an HP TE02 desktop Envy and get an error message on boot up. None of the repairs succeed but the PC passes all the component tests. When I try and install or reinstall windows, neither the USB or external CD ROM device recognize the hard drives. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thank you!

Hi @opie1canolli,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand you're facing boot errors on HP ENVY TE02 Desktop, and Windows installation media isn’t detecting your hard drives, even though hardware diagnostics pass.

Step 1: Enter BIOS and Check Storage Settings

  1. Power off the PC.
  2. Tap F10 repeatedly during boot to enter BIOS Setup.
  3. Navigate to Storage > Device Configuration or Advanced > NVMe Configuration.
  4. Confirm:
    • The storage controller is set to AHCI (try toggling from RAID to AHCI if applicable).
    • The drive appears in BIOS under boot/storage devices.
  5. Check if Secure Boot is enabled:
    • Try disabling Secure Boot and enabling Legacy Support temporarily (if available).
    • Save changes and exit BIOS.

Step 2:

  1. Create Windows 11 Installation USB:
    • Use the Windows Media Creation Tool on another PC.
    • Create a bootable USB drive (at least 32 GB).

  2. Download Intel RST (RAID) Drivers:
  3. Copy the Extracted Driver Folder to the USB:
    • Place the extracted IRST driver folder on the same USB as the Windows installer (or a second USB if needed).

  4. Boot from the USB and Start Windows Setup:
    • Press F9 or Esc at startup to access the boot menu.
    • Choose the USB drive and begin Windows installation.

  5. When No Drives Are Found:
    • Click “Load Driver”.
    • Browse to the folder containing the extracted IRST drivers.
    • Select the appropriate driver (usually labelled with your chipset or controller).
    • Once loaded, your hard drive should appear.

I hope this helps.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
